Pull Back The Yoke
The Hawker Typhoon has a rather interesting history. Nearly scrapped in the early stages of production the Typhoon would struggle with design and engine problems throughout it's life.
While some of the issues were eventually worked out it was never able to achieve it's original purpose as a high altitude interceptor. Instead it was utilized as a mid and low-level fighter, attacking planes and ground targets.
It proved valuable in the D-Day attack, preventing German tanks and troops from reaching Normandy to attack the invading Allied troops. It's ability to destroy ground targets actually caused some German troops to abandon their vehicles altogether in order to stay alive.
